The Perfect Evening...

... for Preston that is.  Because we basically didn't get a winter and went from fall to spring, we've been able to enjoy being outside most of this time.  This is one of Preston's favorite things to do, thus it is my favorite thing to do.  Who would have thought the littlest person in the house would rule everything?  We learned that almost two years ago!

This is a typical evening at our house.  Mommy picks P up from school.  We come in, get a snack and a drink, and stroll down to our neighborhood park.  Preston has mastered climbing and sliding all on his own.  Being a little protective, I haven't learned to sit and watch.  I spend most of my time frantically watching every moment and staying right behind him "just in case."  The more comfortable he has gotten with the park, the more demanding he has become with me.  I have a specific place to stand and watch throughout the whole thing.  (Though sometimes I have to break the rules to make sure he doesn't fall).

After our fun at the park, Daddy swings by on his way home and picks us up in the car.  We usually let Preston drive the whole 2/10 of a mile home (please don't judge us a parents... it's not like we're Britney Spearsing it driving on the highway for extended periods of time.  It's literally 45 seconds- or the length of the video at the end to be exact)!

Welcome to evenings at the Emerson's:

The first one captures the mind of a one year old- very easily distracted!

This one captures P mastering the park!

(Please don't mind the bruise on the right side of his head- he pretty much gets a new one there as soon as the old one goes away.  For some reason, he hits that side on just about everything- a tree at school, the tile floor, a drawer in his room, the door frame, just to name a few in the past 3 weeks).

Driving home.
