Happy Birthday, Sissy!

           Thank you for-
Making me a priority
Always coming over to play with me

Making me smile and laugh… hard

Always telling me “I love you,” with our special little hand movements

Talking to me on the phone- anytime the phone rings, you are the first person I think of and always ask to talk to you (even if Mommy does actually get phone calls from other people every now and then).

Giving me anything and everything I think I need (even if Mommy throws a fit over it)

Buying me ridiculous toys that my mommy can’t stand (oh I love my rocking horse)!

Driving over an hour just to visit me for maybe an hour or two

Taking off work to help out when Mommy or Daddy can’t

Taking over when my Mommy’s had enough

Being patient with me AND my Mommy

Being there...

Being MY Sissy.

My first time to meet you-

Preston in Action

I just realized I have not uploaded any of Preston's videos in the past month!  I try my best to capture all of Preston's "new" things on video, but it seems the older he gets, the more frequent they come.  I can't quite capture all of the awesome (and some-not-so-awesome as you will see in a moment) memories, but I will keep trying!

Here is the last one of him as a 22 month old-
This was actually over Spring Break, so he was almost 23 months old.  I was trying to get a video of him singing "Clean up," as he is such a doll when he sings it AND actually cleans up.  As you can see, I didn't get that too much, but I did get him stacking blocks and being very proud of myself.  Turned out to be super cute anyway.

Last week, April 3rd to be exact, DFW experienced some pretty scary weather with several tornadoes and damaging hail.  To be honest, I was a nervous wreck the whole time it was happening.  I remember right when we all heard the weather was getting bad- and by bad, I do mean eventually a tornado about 5 minutes away from our house, my school, and P's school- I called Preston's school.  Of course, I didn't want to be "that mother," but I was also a nervous wreck about them waking him up from nap time to go into duck and cover.  Of course mother nature could not wait until the afternoon to come through.  I told the director, "Please do not wake Preston up if y'all have to go into duck-and-cover.  He will be horrible for me.  You can if it is after 2:30, but not before then unless you see a cyclone coming down from the sky."  Of course, I didn't really want them to wait that long, but I did want them to know how truly horrible Preston could be sans-nap.  Well, I guess I wasn't too powerful because about 15 minutes after we got off the phone, I got an email saying they were waking the kids up and going into duck-in-cover.  Don't get me wrong- I do think they did the right thing.  BUT when the weather passed, and everything around us was in one piece, all I could think about what the nightmare I was going to be picking up.  AND as I predicted, he was just that.  This video captures my insane, almost two year old.  He acted like this until we put him to bed.  If only I could have put him to bed the 2398 times he asked- I just couldn't risk him waking up at 3:00 AM.
Oh the joys of parenting---

If you know me, you know I have Bieber Fever- Justin Bieber that is.  I have fortunately passed that along to my child who loves to sing and dance to his music!  Mama and son love to have a good time singing and dancing!  Too bad I have to listen to the songs on repeat though... it makes them not awesome for long.

Finally, a couple of weeks ago, we went to a Mansfield High School Baseball game (vs our hometown of Midlothian actually- and not-to-my-surprise Mansfield won).  Ever since then, Preston has been obsessed with making every object a bat and ball.  We have been playing inside and outside for a couple of weeks.  I have to say, I am impressed with his bat holding skills (and if you notice- I'm about 90% sure he's going to be left handed.  Every time he picks up the bat, this is how he holds it.  I'm trying to pay close attention to everything else too, we shall see).  He's the next "Hambone," until he hurts his foot, that is...

Last year, Easter fell the Sunday after Preston’s birthday.  I really felt that we didn’t get to enjoy most of it because it was moving from one celebration to the next.  This year, however, we were able to devote a majority of the weekend to celebrating this day!

The Saturday before, as you know, we took our family picture and quickly after that the kids got their first Easter baskets of the year from Gigi.  She came over for a pizza dinner and backyard playing.  Nothing out of the ordinary for this crew- just a relaxing evening with family!

Preston was completely confused on exactly how to hunt for the eggs Easter morning.  He took his time and stopped at every egg, opened it, and ate what was inside.  Doing this, he earned himself a whopping 4 Easter eggs.  We eventually just let Ava snatch up all of the rest as we saw it was going to take forever if she didn’t.  As you can imagine, she didn’t argue with that… she even requested another bucket as hers was overflowing.  Preston did not mind either as he was chowing down on just about anything he could find in the eggs.

Ready to find eggs and look through their baskets!

Please notice the amount of eggs Ava has vs Preston:)

Later that afternoon, we had a great time with lots of kiddos and lots, and lots, and lots of sweet stuff.  I don’t think there was one occasion I didn’t see Preston eating something of horrible nutrition.  I was a little scared to see what bedtime would hold because of the ridiculous amount of sugar, but surprisingly, because he played SO hard, he passed out right on time!

Sweet Cousins

We had to move the afternoon egg hunt inside because of the weather- the kids still LOVED it!

Thank you, Meme for the oh-so "Meme" cake and decorations!

Water guns were a hit off of the covered patio!

Good job bub- too bad the gun was the wrong way...

Watch out...

Bubble fun in a new, clean outfit for P.

BUT he was done with pictures by Sunday afternoon.  This picture makes me laugh every time I see it.  This would be Preston telling his Aunt Candace, "NNNNOOO."  And maybe, just maybe, attempting to slap her... oops.  What a way to wrap up the weekend!

Emerson Family Picture Session- April 2012

Easter weekend, the Emerson families (mine and Candace’s), headed out to the infamous Silken Ranch to, again, take each other’s family pictures.  We decided we would try to get family pictures of each other every six months.  Why not?  It’s free and it’s, most of the time, easy.  Since this is our second session, we are learning now what works and what doesn’t.  Apparently, the sun this time didn’t.  It was really hard to shoot without shadows or squinty eyes.  Preston also decided he didn’t want to cooperate a majority of the time.  And poor Ava, her allergies got the best of her.  SO with all of that being said, here are the ones we got.  I have to say, though we are learning, we are doing a pretty good job!  Next pictures like this will be on the BEACH in Destin… yeah buddyJ

We started with the kiddos!

A Walk in the Park- Take 2

Last year, our great group of friends, hit the park to kick-start summer!  This year, we went a bit earlier to celebrate a friend’s birthday party!  It’s hard to believe the difference from then to now!

The Bluest Eyes In Texas- Take Three

Katie and I decided to take the kids out for our third annual bluebonnet picture extravaganza!  Though we didn't think we got good ones because our location was compromised (by the sun and lack of bluebonnets), we were beyond pleased to find an even better location and to come away with the best ones yet!  This is quite possibly the best way we could have said goodbye...

From then to now.
