Preston's First Board Meetings (Oh and some info on Preston's Tubes)!

Preston and I spent a whole week together over our Thanksgiving Break!  The first two days were pretty rough as he was getting over yet again a double ear infection.  At this 18 month check up, our doctor saw that both tubes were no longer in place.  Of course, I was a little upset about this as he got them in February of this year.  They only lasted about 8 months and not even through the winter season... which is when we needed them the most.  As luck would have it, the following week he caught a cold, and we all know what follows congestion and drainage for Preston... ear infections.  I took him in because he was acting fussy and not sleeping well.  I thought he was only going to have it in his left ear, but turns out, it was in both.  I immediately asked her take on going back to the ENT.  She thought that would be the best considering his history and the fact they had only been out for a short period of time and here we were with another ear infection.  (On a side note, his lungs and everything else was perfect- that is beyond a blessing as it was exactly this week last year that Preston went to the hospital for the first time with pneumonia).

On Wednesday, we went to our ENT.  At first he didn't know if he immediately wanted to put tubes in again, but after a discussion (which might have included a talk about trying to get in for insurance purposes), he decided too that it would be a good choice to put them back in.  He informed me that usually during the 2nd tube insertion it is common practice to also take the adenoids.  Considering Preston has only had (as of now) one ear infection since they came out, he isn't sure he is going to have to take them as well, but when he is under for tubes, it is possible they will be removed.  The recovery for this is just a little bit more than tubes (which is so simple).  Maybe 24 to 48 hours instead of the typical 12.  They still aren't going to have to do an IV or anything of the sort.  With all that being said, the first Monday of our Christmas Break (Dec 19), Preston has another appointment for tubes and a possible adenoidectomy.  I'm praying everything goes as smooth as the first time.  I've heard mixed reviews about the adenoidectomy recovery, but I'm praying for the best and preparing for the worst.  Brad is taking off on Monday for the surgery and Sissy will be taking off Tuesday to help with any residual effects (which we are hoping for none).  So how is that for mother of the year?  Shots on Halloween and surgery the week of Christmas.  I will say, in my defense, that shots don't really effect him and neither did the last placement of tubes!

In the meantime, here are some super cute pictures Aunt Candace sent me of Preston hanging with the big-wig (aka Daddy) in the board room!  We went to visit three of our favorites on Wednesday of our Thanksgiving break!  I love being able to go up to First Southwest and having lunch with some super awesome people (and so does Preston)!  We had lots of fun with Daddy, Sissy, and Aunt Candace!
