Cool Dog, School Dog

Reading, reading, reading... that's about all we do these days.  Yes, as a teacher, I am VERY glad Preston enjoys reading.  BUT as a human being, I am VERY exhausted with reading the same books OVER AND OVER AND OVER again.  Preston is similar to me in the fact that when he finds something he likes, he sticks to it.  Again, I can appreciate that, but man-oh-man, I'm pretty sure I have read the following books one too many times in the past couple of months:

Brown Bear, Brown Bear
Baby Bear, Baby Bear
Goodnight Moon
The Foot Book
Ten Friendly Fish
Animal Sounds

and, I can't forget,

Cool Dog, School Dog

Preston cannot get enough of this book.  Though this week he has had to tough it out as he pretty much ripped it into too many pieces to read.  It looks like I will be in search of this book for another gift wrapped box under the Christmas Tree.

It is a cute book- one I had honestly never heard of.  It's quick.  It's easy.  AND it is definitely a favorite among the little guy!

Thankfulness

What am I thankful for?

Wow... this could really take a while, so I am just going to hit the two most important:

2.  Preston- Even though he very quickly entering the terrible twos already, he has brought SO much joy and true entertainment into my life.  I am beyond blessed to have such a smart, beautiful, and loving little boy (even if he follows a tender embrace with a slap to the back of the leg).  He is unique.  He is fun.  He is crazy.  He is loud.  He is energetic.  He is ornery.  He is intelligent.  He is adorable.  He is frustrating.  He is amazing.  He is my boy, and I wouldn't trade him for anything!

3.  Brad- SO many years later, with all of our ups and downs along the way, we have grown up together.  From high school students, to the college years, to the "Emerson's," to parents.  Each and every step has had it's own challenges and rewards.  TOGETHER we have learned many life lessons, and TOGETHER we have loved each other through them all.

Computer Fun with Preston

A couple of weeks ago, Brad and I finally splurged and purchased our new Mac computer!  We got the desktop- and let's just say- I'm addicted!  It is SO fun... and fast.

Preston and I have really enjoyed the Photo Booth program:)  He just LOVES it... here are a few pictures from the past couple of weeks of our enjoyment!

And the Answer is.... NO!

Preston has really perfected his ability to say no.  To be honest, it has been nice in some aspects as instead of whining or fussing because he doesn't want to do something- he just says no.  Lately though, he's been saying it to everything.  We just need to focus on teaching him to use yes a little more frequently.  Here is a hilarious bath time video capturing the NO (and maybe a little bit of a fit)!  Love this kid!

"Tick-Tee"

We both could not WAIT to take P trick-or-treating this year.  He absolutely loves being outside- and it makes it even better when he is being pushed in a wagon and handed candy every time he says, "tick-tee," aka trick-or-treat.  He loved it.  Just about every minute of it.  Unfortunately, Mommy did not plan right, and Preston had his 18 month check up (ugh, I know, 18 months already) that same day.  That also means poor boo had to get TWO shots on Halloween.  He was definitely rewarded later though.  The great thing about Preston is that his shots never really seem to bother him.  Yes he cries when he gets him (and I still do when I get shots as well), but it's a few moments of tears, and then he's over it.  In fact, I can remember when he got his first set of shots at 2 months old, and I was SO nervous about how he would react.  He feel asleep on the way home and stayed asleep in his car seat (AND of course I had brought in and set in the living room, what kind of mother do you think I am?) for TWO HOURS.  This was a miracle at this age.  Ever since then, he has done so well- never gotten a fever, rashes, anything.

At is check up, Dr. Tomberlin was SO pleased with his health.  She said he sounded and looked perfect... which has been such a blessing.  He is growing right on track, and she again was very impressed with vocabulary and understanding.  After we left there, we headed home for a quick dinner, then off for the real fun!

Preston could not get enough of going door to door and basically picking out his own candy (or cracker as he sometimes calls it).  It seemed like every time I turned around he was trying to consume some more candy.  I honestly don't know how many KitKats he had- but that's what Halloween is for, right?  Let's just say that by the time we got home, had to take him out of the wagon, and take away his ever-so-precious candy, he was not a happy boy.  He didn't want to stop.  I guess it's too soon to explain to him that all good things come to an end...

I can only imagine how much fun Christmas is going to be based on this!  Having children really does bring back all of the amazing memories and pure happiness surrounding the holidays!

Happy Halloween 2011.  Love, The Emerson's

As you can tell, he is a bit over the camera.

"So, I just candy for wearing this silly costume?"

"I'm going to like this."

"Can I have this one?"

"What?  This is over?"

"Well, I'm still going to eat my candy."

This is Preston on the way to the Dr.  (Please excuse my horrible some what singing)!

This is the day after Halloween!  I wanted to remember how he said tick-tee forever!

Fun with Cousins

On the Sunday before Halloween, Preston got to spend some much needed time with BOTH of his cousins!  Preston only has two cousins (both girls), and it is very rare that all three of them get together.  Bella and Brandi were living in California, so it made it a bit difficult.  However, in the process of moving back to the great state of Texas, Mom was able to get Bella for a couple of days.  She is such a sweet little girl, and we were ALL so excited to see her.

When we walked in the door, Bella immediately said, "Hi pumpkin," to Preston.  The she looked at me and said, "Where's baby Preshin?"  She didn't realize that the baby was no longer a baby... he was almost as big as her.  She smothered that little boy with kisses all day.  It is SO neat to finally see them interact with each other.  They are both finally at the age where they realize other little ones are also in existence.  That Sunday will forever be a great day in the memory book!  I love all of the little ones in our lives and seeing them all together makes life a little sweeter!

"Hey, who's down there?"

"I'm just going to set this one piece right here.  Please don't touch me."

Here is where I found that it is incredibly hard to get a picture with all three of the kids....
this is the best we could do!
